The “march madness bracket 2022” is a new feature in the NBA March Madness game. The bracket will be updated every day.
It’s March, which is the best month of the year for basketball fans. The NCAA Division I basketball tournament is underway, and March Madness is an annual event in the collegiate basketball scene. It has everything from tournament favorites to Cinderella tales with low seedings. Imagine what the NBA could achieve if they had a professional tournament, as good as the collegiate product is.
Consider if the NBA established a regular-season tournament in March to compete with March Madness. Each conference would consist of 15 teams, resulting in a 15-team single elimination tournament. In the first round, each conference’s top seed would get a bye. Then you’d approach it like any other elimination event, where you’d be eliminated if you lost.
The NBA rankings would be established right now if the league held this tournament right now. The conference standings would be used to seed all clubs. Because it is a “one-and-done format,” no team would be safe. The competition would also be held in a neutral location, removing any limits for teams with COVID difficulties.
We sat back and watched as the scene unfolded. We considered who is now healthy and who is injured. Because everything is predicated on matches, having a seed may not be important in certain circumstances. What NBA club may be the tournament’s Cinderella story? Believe it or not, if all it takes is one game to win, there are a number of underdogs who may win.
Here’s how each round of the 2022 NBA Regular Season Tournament would play out. Allow the craziness to begin.
First Round of the Eastern Conference
Bye Week 1: Miami Heat against. Bye Week 2: Miami Heat vs. Bye Week
The Heat would have no first-round opponent due to the fact that the conference is made up of 15 clubs. In the first round, the Heat would be given a bye.
9. Atlanta Hawks vs. 8. Brooklyn Nets
Last year, if Kevin Durant had hit the game-winning shot against the Bucks, this might have been the Conference Finals. Instead, the matchup between Durant and Trae Young would be a true show to see. Because the tournament is being held at a neutral venue, Kyrie Irving will be able to participate, and that additional superstar will be enough for the Nets to handily defeat the Hawks.
The Nets defeated the Hawks 118-92.
13. Indiana Pacers vs. 4. Chicago Bulls
The Pacers would be hampered by DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic’s triple threat. It’s been done three times after all. This season, each of these individuals has led the Bulls in scoring in three different games. Outside of Myles Turner, there is no genuine competition for Vucevic now that Sabonis is out of town. Vucevic is the better player, and that may be the difference as the Bulls cruise through the first round.
Bulls win 125-89 against Pacers.
12. New York Knicks at. 5. Boston Celtics
This matchup may entice those looking for an upset, but it’s one to avoid. The Knicks and Celtics have split the season series, but Evan Fournier’s 41 points or Julius Randle’s 35 points are required to win. Those guys have been inconsistent all season, and taking the Knicks is too risky, particularly when you know what to expect from players like Jayson Tatum and Jayson Brown on any given night.
The Celtics beat the Knicks 104-90.
Milwaukee Bucks against. Orlando Magic, Game 2
In this battle, who will be able to stop Giannis Antetokounmpo? This would not be a fair battle since the Magic are too young. There’d be no Cinderella tale in this place. In the first round, the reigning champs would enjoy an easy victory.
The Bucks defeated the Magic 135-86.
10. Charlotte Hornets against. 7. Toronto Raptors
What level of trust do you want to place in Gary Trent Jr.? Trent scored at least 20 points and shot well in each of the Raptors’ first two matchups. Trent, Pascal Siakam, and Fred VanVleet combined for 28 points in the Hornets’ 125-93 win against the Raptors, with Trent scoring 12 of them. The Raptors can be defeated in this matchup, and the Hornets might benefit from the momentum.
Hornets win 114-100 against Raptors.
14. Detroit Pistons vs. 3. Philadelphia 76ers
In this battle, Joel Embiid and James Harden would be unstoppable. The two All-Stars would score 65 points combined, and the rest of the squad would follow suit. In the end, the Pistons would have to take their lumps in a game when they were outmatched. This would allow fans to see more of Cade Cunningham, the No. 1 overall choice in 2021, in action.
76ers win 125-106 against Pistons.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Washington Wizards, No. 6 vs. No. 11
This had a chance to be an upset until Bradley Beal was injured. Beal was instrumental in both of Washington’s victories against Cleveland. Kyle Kuzma’s 34 points almost led Washington to victory in their most recent encounter, a 92-86 defeat, but they fell short. With Beal’s propensity to stretch the frontcourt out and force more on offense, this would be a tough matchup if he were to play. Instead, the Cavaliers have the better matchup and would win this first game.
Cavaliers win 98-91 over Wizards.
Quarterfinals of the Eastern Conference
Brooklyn Nets vs. Miami Heat
The fact that this series is played on a neutral location is crucial. That, once again, indicates Irving’s ability to play. The Heat defeated the Nets in all three matchups despite not having Kevin Durant or Irving on the court at the same moment. For the first time, this tournament would see that, and it would serve as a reminder to the league of who is a top-tier squad. For the Heat, who are playing their opening game of the series, this is hardly a fair battle. As the Nets found their stride, they were able to catch Miami off surprise and pull off the upset.
The Nets defeated the Heat 116-111.
Boston Celtics vs. Chicago Bulls
The Bulls and Celtics last met in a game when neither club had Zach LaVine, and Boston won by two points. While the Celtics are improving, the Bulls have a stronger matchup against them, particularly with guard Ayo Dosunmu’s defensive surge. Despite Lonzo Ball’s absence, this club is deeper offensively with Alex Caruso back in the lineup. All Chicago has to do is keep either Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown in check. It’s a difficult challenge, but one that Chicago can handle.
Bulls win 115-110 against Celtics.
Charlotte Hornets vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Cinderella would start writing her own narrative. The Hornets are a difficult opponent for the Bucks. In a three-game run, Terry Rozier guided the Hornets to two victories against the Bucks, with Giannis playing in each. Giannis scored 40 points to lead the Bucks to a 127-125 victory against Charlotte. Call it Cinderella or March Madness, but Rozier, an unexpected hero, would lead a small-ball squad to help the Hornets stun the world.
The Hornets defeated the Bucks 135-129.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Philadelphia 76ers
You’d think that the frontcourt depth of Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley would help slow down Embiid, but that isn’t the case. In a victory against the Cavaliers, Embiid scored 40 points, while Tyrese Maxey led the squad with 33 points in the other win. Given Allen’s illness, the 76ers are expected to win this game easily.
76ers win 108-96 against Cavaliers.
Semifinals of the Eastern Conference
Brooklyn Nets vs. Chicago Bulls
Everyone may have attended the recent meeting, but let’s take it slowly. When the Bulls were at full strength, Kevin Durant and James Harden led the club to a four-point victory against the Nets. The Bulls match up nicely with the Nets even without Lonzo Ball and Ayo Dosunmu. With that said, the Nets were a different sort of bull, no pun intended, to stop when Irving joined the club. Even without Harden, the Nets have a real big man in Andre Drummond who can stop Vucevic, as well as two legitimate stars in LaVine and DeRozan.
The Nets defeated the Bulls 121-109.
Charlotte Hornets vs. Philadelphia 76ers
For the 76ers, this is a very difficult matchup. Philly won the first encounter because to Embiid’s 43 points and overtime. Embiid had to score 32 points the second time, and the team only won by four points. The Hornets beat the 76ers for the third time, this time by 11 points. In back-to-back games, Gordon Hayward has scored 31 points. Meet your Eastern Conference Cinderella, as Hayward scores 30 points three games in a row to help the Hornets beat the 76ers, who felt they had the simplest path to the finals.
Hornets win 117-114 against 76ers.
Finals of the Eastern Conference
Charlotte Hornets vs. Brooklyn Nets
Both teams have faced each other twice. Durant scored 38 points in a defeat, while Irving scored 50 points in a victory in one matchup. The Nets would go on a tear against the Hornets, with Durant and Irving both scoring 40 points. The Hornets would be an interesting tale, but their journey would come to an end here, as the eighth-seeded Nets would make a push for the title.
Hornets lose 120-100 against the Nets.
First Round of the Western Conference
1. Suns vs. Suns vs. Suns vs. Suns vs. Suns
The Suns would have no first-round opponent due to the fact that the conference is made up of 15 clubs. In the first round, the Suns would be given a bye.
Los Angeles Clippers vs. Los Angeles Lakers (8th vs. 9th).
The Clippers are now in a bad situation. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George would both be suspended. The Lakers would not be a letdown in the first round. To advance to the next round, the veteran-laden team would find a way to defeat the injury-depleted Clippers. In the regular season, the Clippers were 4-0 versus the Lakers, so this is a huge shock.
Lakers win 107-105 against Clippers.
13. Sacramento Kings vs. 4. Utah Jazz
This isn’t going to be a Cinderella tale. While the addition of Domantas Sabonis is a good move, the Kings have struggled on the road this season, finishing 9-25. The Jazz have a lot of experienced winners on their roster. Not to add, Donovan Mitchell enjoys playing the Kings, scoring at least 25 points in each of his four victories this season.
The Jazz defeated the Kings 99-91.
San Antonio Spurs vs. 5. Dallas Mavericks
Hello, and welcome to your first Cinderella tale. Despite losing three times against the Mavericks this season, two of those defeats were by less than five points. Outside of a regular-season game, Luka Doncic has yet to demonstrate his ability to lead a team. In a one-game elimination, Gregg Popovich, the finest coach in the NBA, will find a method to restrict Doncic’s scoring potential. The Spurs would continue to dance and begin the tournament as the clear favorite.
Spurs win 117-112 against Mavericks.
Memphis Grizzlies versus. Houston Rockets, Game 2
This would be a difficult matchup for Memphis, believe it or not. Despite a 136-102 victory in November, Houston has had success against the Grizzlies, including a win on March 6 in which Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green combined for 54 points. Having saying that, the Grizzlies aren’t defined by a single game. Ja Morant is a superstar who has played in the playoffs and would easily drop 45 points to help his team advance to the next round.
The Grizzlies defeated the Rockets 135-98.
10. New Orleans Pelicans vs. 7. Minnesota Timberwolves
The Pelicans have the stronger matchup even without Zion Williamson. For starters, Brandon Ingram had a hand in two of the Timberwolves’ four games, scoring at least 30 points in two of them. The season series between the two teams has been divided, but the Pelicans have better shooting depth in CJ McCollum, a potential 30-spot from Ingram, and Minnesota has inexperience. Anthony Edwards has never played in a playoff game, whereas Towns has played in one. Even though it isn’t the playoffs, the atmosphere will be similar, and the Timberwolves will be unprepared.
Pelicans win 101-92 against Timberwolves.
14. Oklahoma City Thunder vs. 3. Golden State Warriors
It’s always exciting to see a 14-seed team triumph, but this is too much strength vs too much young. Any kind of experience like this would be fantastic for the young Thunder, but the Warriors already have four All-Stars and much too much depth. The Thunder may be able to make it, but Golden State would easily handle the situation.
Warriors win 132-102 against Thunder.
Denver Nuggets vs. Portland Trail Blazers, No. 6 vs. No. 11
This seems to be so simple that you wonder whether an upset is really conceivable. Damian Lillard is no longer with the Trail Blazers, and CJ McCollum has been dealt. In contrast to Jusef Nurkic, the Nuggets boast a superior center in reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. With Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. out, the Nuggets are also a little bruised up, but they are the superior team right now.
Nuggets win 125-101 against Trail Blazers.
Quarterfinals of the Western Conference
Los Angeles Lakers vs. Phoenix Suns
The Suns have progressively improved their standing against the Lakers. That began with a 10-point victory, followed by an 18-point victory. On Sunday, the Suns triumphed by 30 points. The fans can speak all they want about Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis, but the Suns are a superior team on paper, younger, and more athletic, and would demolish the Lakers in this tournament once again.
Suns win 134-112 against Lakers.
San Antonio Spurs vs. Utah Jazz
The Jazz are also a poor matchup for the Spurs. For a variety of reasons, the Spurs have won two of the three matches this season. Mitchell is neutralized by Keldon Johnson and Josh Richardson, and he doesn’t shoot effectively. Jakob Poetl can defend Rudy Gobert in the paint and minimize his offensive rebounding possibilities. The Spurs would add to their Cinderella narrative by defeating the Jazz for the third game this season.
Spurs win 113-110 vs Jazz.
New Orleans Pelicans vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Even with the addition of McCollum, the Pelicans will not be able to defeat the Grizzlies. Maybe this would be a fight if the club had Williamson, but the Grizzlies just beat the Pelicans by 20 points last week. Despite the fact that the Pelicans were without Ingram, the Grizzlies won with both Ingram and McCollum on the court, and the Grizzlies were without Ja Morant.
Grizzlies win 118-108 against Pelicans.
The Golden State Warriors will take on the Denver Nuggets.
The Warriors and Nuggets split a series that lasted five days. Curry scored 34 points in the Warriors’ victory, while Jordan Poole added 24 points off the bench. Nikola Jokic got a triple-double in the Nuggets’ win, but Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins did not play due to rest. With a full squad, the Warriors must have the upper hand here.
Warriors win 105-98 against Nuggets.
Semifinals of the Western Conference
San Antonio Spurs vs. Phoenix Suns
The Spurs would attempt to shock the Suns, but this Cinderella narrative would come to an end as the clock struck midnight. The Suns have a 4-0 record, with three of their victories coming by four points twice and five points once. These razor-thin margins would stay razor-thin as the Suns completed the difficult goal of defeating a club five times in a single season. Devin Booker’s 48-point performance was the only time the Suns won by double digits. This time, he may score 50 points in a major game with a lot of stakes.
The Suns defeated the Spurs 106-102.
Golden State Warriors vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Although this might be a future NBA playoff battle, you have to give the Grizzlies the edge for this game. Morant has excelled in one game, take it circumstances, throughout the most of his career. The Warriors would have the depth and reputation to prevail in a five- or seven-game series. But it’s just one game, and Morant has this uncanny ability to go off for 50 points when his team most needs him.
Grizzlies win 113-107 against Warriors.
Finals of the Western Conference
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Phoenix Suns
This is going to be a nail-biter. The Suns won the opening encounter by 25 points thanks to a balanced scoring performance. The Grizzlies won 114-113 in the second encounter, with Ja Morant’s 33 points outlasting Devin Booker’s 30. The Grizzlies would take advantage of the one-game elimination in this meeting. Morant would outplay Booker for the second time, Steve Adams would stifle Deandre Ayton, and the youthful Grizzlies would receive their first taste of championship basketball.
The Grizzlies defeated the Suns 110-109.
Championship of the NBA Tournament
Brooklyn Nets vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Everything is decided by a single game. Will it be the on-the-rise or the long-term? This would be the first time Memphis feels championship dancing, based on what we saw from Morant the first time he faced the Nets. Morant scorched the Nets for 36 points in the first encounter, a 118-104 triumph against a Nets club that included both Durant and Harden. Jaren Jackson Jr. finished the game with five points. As the Grizzlies seek their first title in club history, he will be the difference-maker in this game.
Grizzlies win 117-110 against Nets.
Ja Morant is the tournament MVP.
