Mario Party Superstars is out, and it’s a lot of fun thanks to its updated retro boards and minigames for the Nintendo Switch. In subsequent iterations, there have been more unlocked goodies to obtain as you progressed through the game, including characters. So how does this one do in that regard? Continue reading to find out!
In Mario Party Superstars, Can You Unlock More Characters?
There are a lot of things to unlock in Mario Party Superstars, but characters aren’t one of them. You get access to the whole roster at the start of the game. The following characters are included in the overall number of characters available:
- Donkey Kong is a video game created by Donkey Kong
There are no plans to add more characters to Mario Party Superstars, unless there is some undisclosed DLC in the works. It’s also worth mentioning that the characters have no gameplay or ability distinctions. This is a significant shift from the previous Super Mario Party, which included unlockable characters with their own unique dice, as well as friends that could be summoned to add to your overall roll. This added some variation and a feeling of danger to the story, which is regrettably lacking in this edition.
This isn’t to say there aren’t some meaningful prizes to be found as you progress through the game. As you complete sessions and complete specific tasks in other parts of the game, your Mario Party Level will rise. You may earn money by completing tasks at Mt. Minigames or by earning stars during playthroughs. These coins may be used to purchase new Stickers, Card Designs, Encyclopedia pages, and Music that can be performed at the Data House. Finishing a game on their respective board will also unlock classic versions of Stage Music. Keep in mind that certain awards are only available after you’ve reached a specific Mario Party Level.
